HUBZone map checker
Is this address in a HUBZone? Enter your office address, or an employee's home address, to see whether it's in a qualified HUBZone, which kind, and when it expires.
Free, no sign-up. It checks the address against SBA's HUBZone map data, last downloaded Oct 10, 2026: 15,913 qualified census tracts, 990 rural counties, Indian lands, and disaster and governor-designated areas.
The two HUBZone location rules
- Principal office. The office where the greatest number of your employees work must be in a HUBZone. It isn't your mailing address or where you incorporated, and for service and construction firms, job sites don't count.
- 35% of employees. At least 35% of your employees must live in a HUBZone, any HUBZone, and have lived there for at least 90 days. Anyone who works 10 or more hours a week counts, including working owners. With 25 employees, 9 must live in a HUBZone.
So check your office and every employee's home address. The full rules, with what counts as an employee and how SBA reviews your lease, are in HUBZone map: how to check if your business qualifies.
Kinds of HUBZone
| Type | What it is | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Qualified census tract | A low-income or high-poverty tract, from HUD's list | Until the next five-year map update (July 2028) |
| Qualified non-metropolitan county | A rural county with low income or high unemployment | Until the next five-year map update |
| Indian lands | Land inside a reservation or other Indian land boundary | No set end date |
| Qualified disaster area | A recently expired area hit by a major disaster | Shown on the map, usually July 2028 |
| Governor-designated area | A small, non-urban area a governor asked SBA to add | Shown on the map, usually July 2028 |
| Redesignated area | A tract or county that lost its status, in a three-year grace period | Three years. The 2023 ones ended July 1, 2026 |

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my address is in a HUBZone?
Enter the full street address above, or search it on SBA's HUBZone map at maps.certify.sba.gov. HUBZones follow census tract and county lines, so search each full address rather than a ZIP code. SBA's map is the official answer.
What does "Qualification valid as of" mean on the HUBZone map?
It's the date SBA's map checked the address. HUBZone status can change: disaster and governor-designated areas come and go during the year, and the full map is updated every five years. Save a printout of SBA's result with that date for your records, and check again before each HUBZone bid.
Did HUBZone redesignated areas expire in 2026?
Yes. SBA said areas that became redesignated in the July 2023 map update would expire on July 1, 2026, and SBA's map data no longer lists any redesignated areas. Firms whose office or employees relied on those areas need to check every address again.
When is the next HUBZone map update?
SBA says it won't update qualified census tracts and non-metropolitan counties until July 2028. Disaster areas are generally added monthly, and governor-designated areas when SBA approves a governor's petition.
Is my business HUBZone eligible if my office is in a HUBZone?
Not by itself. Your principal office, where the most employees work, must be in a HUBZone, and at least 35% of your employees must live in one. You also have to be small, at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens (or certain entities), and certified by SBA.
Is this an official SBA determination?
No. FedReady checks addresses against data downloaded from SBA's HUBZone map and the Census Bureau's geocoder. SBA's map, and SBA's review of your application, are the official answers.
