How we check our data
As of October 2026. Last updated: October 25, 2026
FedReady shows public federal contract data and AI summaries of contract notices. This page says where the data comes from, what we checked against the official sources in our latest review, what that review found wrong, and how to tell us when something looks off.
Where the data comes from
- Open notices come from SAM.gov Contract Opportunities, loaded every day.
- Past awards and agency spending come from USAspending.gov. The “who won” award pages use the award notices agencies post on SAM.gov.
- Size standards come from the Small Business Administration (SBA) table in 13 CFR 121.201. Service Contract Act wage rates come from the wage determinations on SAM.gov.
How we count open notices, small-business shares and award amounts, and when each data set was last pulled, is on the methodology page.
AI summaries
Notice summaries are written by AI from the notice text and the attachments it could read. Each summary says which files it didn't read. That's why they carry a Beta label: AI can get things wrong, dates included. Check the due date and the requirements on SAM.gov before you bid.
What we checked in October 2026
In our latest review, on October 23 and 24, 2026, testers compared what FedReady showed with the official source, one value at a time. These matched:
- About 200 notice due dates, times and time zones, and 81 “Closed” labels, against SAM.gov.
- 50 award amounts against SAM.gov. Amounts for indefinite-delivery (IDIQ) contracts were labelled as ceilings, as they should be.
- 25 deadlines in the calendar files (.ics) FedReady makes.
- About 140 NAICS size standards, and the size checker, against 13 CFR 121.201 in the eCFR.
- Service Contract Act wage rates for Harris County, Texas, and five Arizona counties against the SAM.gov wage determinations, with the price math redone by hand.
- HUBZone checker results against Census tracts and the SBA's HUBZone data.
- SBIR topic dates against SBIR.gov and the National Science Foundation, and procurement forecasts against the Department of Homeland Security and the General Services Administration.
- Spending and contractor totals for the Army, Texas and Maryland against USAspending.gov.
- Dollar thresholds in the guides (micro-purchase, simplified acquisition, sole-source and Miller Act) against the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the eCFR.
What the review found wrong
The same review found real mistakes. Two of them were about real bids and real companies:
- One notice showed an AI summary written for a different notice. We removed it. Summaries written in batches are now checked before they're saved, and one that doesn't mention its notice is refused.
- Some award winners were linked to a different company with the same name in another state. We no longer link a winner to a same-name company in a different state.
When an award notice gives no address, the winner is still matched by name, so a wrong link is still possible. If you spot one, please report it.
How to report a mistake
Every AI summary and every award row has a Report a mistake link. Choose what's wrong, add a note if you like, and send it. You don't need an account. If you leave your email, we'll write back if we have a question.
The owner reads every report, checks it against SAM.gov or USAspending.gov, and fixes what's wrong. You can also email hello@fedready.us with the page and what you expected.
FedReady is an independent company and is not affiliated with SAM.gov, USAspending.gov or any government agency. Always check a notice on SAM.gov before you bid.
