The Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) is looking for companies to join the Next Generation Undersea Security Initiative (NG-USI), which will develop prototypes in 22 focus areas such as counter-drone, security systems, fire control, rocket motors and avionics. Awards would be prototype Other Transaction agreements, not regular FAR-based contracts. Companies wanting in must email the point of contact showing technical relevancy and recency.
Watch out for
- Other Transaction agreements, not FAR contracts. OTs follow their own terms through a Participant Basic Agreement, so the usual FAR protections and small-business rules may not apply.
Other Transaction Authority in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 4022 will be used in support of NG-USI.
- Advanced defense R&D focus. Most focus areas involve nuclear weapons surety, hypersonics and missile systems, which likely need deep technical credentials and possibly security clearances.
- Planning-only notice. The Government makes no commitment and will not pay for responses, so time spent responding may not lead to an award.
This notification is for planning purposes only.
