Things to watch (9)

From the version posted Oct 22, 2026.

SeriousWorth checkingMinor

  • Worth checking: Sources sought only, not a solicitation. No offers are taken now; the Army is gathering capability information and may revise the work statement before any solicitation.
  • Worth checking: Notice and draft work statement disagree on lead ammunition. The notice says the range has not used lead ammunition, while the draft work statement says lead and frangible ammunition are used and lead was found in the dust.
  • Worth checking: Waste is assumed to be hazardous lead waste. The firm must label, package, transport and dispose of the waste under shipping rules for hazardous materials, which needs the right handling capability.
Show all 9Show fewer
  • Worth checking: Lead limits are not filled in. Cleaning must pass wipe sample limits, but the limit table is still a placeholder, so the pass mark cannot be priced.
  • Worth checking: Number of cleanings per year is unclear. The estimate is twice per year, the work report mentions quarterly cleaning, and one task says quarterly or once per year, so pricing volume is uncertain.
  • Minor: HEPA filter count differs. The text gives 24 filters in each of two banks, yet also a total of twenty-four, so the quantity to price is unclear.
  • Minor: Explosion-proof HEPA vacuums required. The vacuum equipment must carry specific safety certifications, which may mean renting or buying specialized gear.
  • Minor: Work only Monday to Thursday, 0730 to 1630. Cleaning can only happen in this window, and delays from base gate closures are not paid.
  • Minor: Possible pre-solicitation site visit. The Government is considering a site visit and asks interested firms to say if they would attend; no date is given.

Should you respond?

Usually yes, if you could do this work. The agency is asking who could do it before it writes the solicitation. A short reply (who you are, similar work you've done, how you'd approach it) costs nothing, and enough small businesses replying can get the work set aside for them.
