Things to watch (9)
From the version posted Oct 21, 2026.
- Serious: Small businesses only. This is a total small business set-aside, so a business that is not small under the 1,250-employee size standard cannot bid.
- Worth checking: Site visit on October 28, 2026 needs an RSVP. The visit is at the base, and the RSVP (due 3:00 PM Mountain Time on October 26, 2026) must include a government-issued ID scan and vehicle papers; the text does not say attendance is mandatory.
- Worth checking: Design must be approved before fabrication. The PE-stamped design package goes to the Government for written approval, so fabrication and ordering of materials cannot start until it is approved, and this sits inside the 36-week delivery.
Show all 9Show fewer
- Worth checking: California Professional Engineer needed. Structural calculations and drawings must be stamped by an engineer licensed in California, so a firm without one must team with or hire one.
- Worth checking: Limits on subcontracting and the nonmanufacturer rule apply. The clauses limit how much of the work a small business can pass to others and cover firms that do not make the crane themselves; read both clauses before deciding to team or resell.
- Worth checking: Hazardous materials in Building 9320. The contractor provides its own safety training, exposure monitoring and protective gear, and must stay out of regulated areas where exposure limits would be exceeded.
- Minor: Work hours are Monday through Thursday. On-site work is limited to four days a week, excluding federal holidays and base closures, which affects the installation schedule.
- Minor: Many documents with late-delivery limits. The work comes with 13 required data items, and the performance targets allow very few late or faulty submissions.
- Minor: California workplace safety rules may apply. The compliance matrix says cranes off exclusive federal land are inspected, tested and certified under California occupational safety rules, and it covers cranes over 3 tons; this crane is 4 tons.
