Things to watch (5)

From the version posted Oct 22, 2026.

SeriousWorth checkingMinor

  • Worth checking: Market research only, not a solicitation. Responding does not make you a bidder, and the Government is not committing to any award or paying for responses.
  • Worth checking: Part of the future work is making new units, not only repair. The planned buy covers new production plus repair, so a repair-only shop would need a team or subcontractors for manufacturing.
  • Worth checking: Cybersecurity clauses asked about. The survey asks whether you have met Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) cybersecurity rules; small firms may need preparation.
Show all 5Show fewer
  • Worth checking: Classified work may be required. The survey asks about handling classified material and data, which needs facility and personnel clearances a small business may not have.
  • Minor: Government technical data comes under controls. The data needed to build and repair the unit is Government-owned or provided under appropriate controls, so access terms are not yet known.

Should you respond?

Usually yes, if you could do this work. The agency is asking who could do it before it writes the solicitation. A short reply (who you are, similar work you've done, how you'd approach it) costs nothing, and enough small businesses replying can get the work set aside for them.
