ARPA-H is inviting proposals for the Brain Repair of Any Injured Neural Structure (BRAINS) Exploratory Topic program, through an Innovative Solutions Opening (ISO). It expects multiple awards using Other Transaction agreements. A solution summary is mandatory before a full proposal, with two intake groups.
Watch out for
- Mandatory solution summary step. Skipping the solution summary means you cannot submit a full proposal, and its due date comes about a month before full proposals.
No awards will be made, or funding provided as a result of a solution summary submission.
- Conflicting deadline dates. The response deadline field shows February 26, 2027, but the text lists Full Proposals Due as February 6th, 2027; confirm with the ISO.
Full Proposals Due: February 6th, 2027, 5:00PM
- Research program using Other Transactions. OT agreements differ from regular FAR contracts and the work is advanced biomedical research, so small firms without a research team may struggle to compete.
ARPA-H anticipates multiple awards with Other Transaction award types resulting from this announcement.
