The VA's Network Contracting Office 2, for VISN 2 South, plans a requirements contract for reference and esoteric (specialized, send-out) laboratory testing for five VA medical centers. This is only a pre-solicitation notice: no quotes are requested now, and the formal RFP is expected on or about 10/07/2026. It is unrestricted, not a set-aside.
Watch out for
- Interface with VA lab system. You need a direct electronic connection to the VA's VistA lab system, which takes IT work.
direct system interface to the VA VistA Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Specimen pickup and transport across several sites. You must pick up routine and urgent specimens from multiple VA facilities, which needs a logistics network.
- Unrestricted competition. Large national lab companies can bid, so a small lab competes against them with no set-aside protection.
