AI summary Beta
The U.S. Department of State is doing market research (not a bid request) to find firms that can design, build, run and later take down a temporary USA Pavilion at the Expo 2030 world's fair in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The government's rough cost estimate is $55-65 million, and the pavilion would be open for six months (October to March). Responses are due November 11, 2026 by email.
Watch out for
- Very large, high-risk project. The government estimates $55-65 million for a multi-story pavilion overseas, which is far beyond the size and bonding capacity of most small businesses unless they team up.
Approximate design, construction and decommissioning cost: $55 - 65 Million
- Heavy experience and bonding requirements. Firms must show many similar projects from the past 15 years, including full bonding, foreign business operations and projects serving 23,000+ visitors a day.
- Related companies can only help through a joint venture. A small business that wants to use a partner's or parent's experience must form a joint venture and accept joint and several liability for the whole contract.
- Expo rules not yet released. The Expo 2030 guidelines are not out yet, so requirements, costs and schedule could change after award.
released at this time. The contract, if awarded, will require compliance with all applicable
- Market research only, no award yet. The government will not pay for responses and may never issue a solicitation, though skipping this RFI does not stop you from bidding later.
