The U.S. Geological Survey is running a sources sought (market research) notice to find small businesses that can deploy, maintain, operate, repair and give technical support for seismograph stations run by the Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory. The lab operates more than 330 stations worldwide, about 230 of them in the continental U.S. The planned contract is one 12-month base year plus four 12-month option years.
Watch out for
- Specialized seismic equipment expertise. The work needs hands-on experience with specific seismograph instruments and electronics test gear, so a general repair firm may not qualify.
Work requires applied electronics knowledge and use of common test instruments
- Domestic and international fieldwork. Stations are spread worldwide, so the contractor needs travel and field staffing capacity.
ASL operates more than 330 seismograph stations worldwide
- Sources sought response is not a bid. Responding does not count as an offer on any future solicitation.
Responses to this Sources Sought Notice are not adequate responses to any future solicitation.
