The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, wants a contractor to supply one fully crewed hopper dredge ship for work in the Mississippi River Southwest Pass and possibly other areas. The notice says the work is between $10,000,000 and $25,000,000. The bid opening date has not been set yet.
Watch out for
- Needs a crewed hopper dredge vessel. The contractor must provide a complete self-propelled dredge with crew, which requires specialized and very costly equipment that most small businesses do not own.
The work consists of furnishing one fully crewed and equipped self-propelled trailing suction type hopper dredge.
- Large contract size. The stated construction range is $10M to $25M, so bonding and financing capacity will matter.
The magnitude of construction range for this Dredge project is between $10,000,000.00 and $25,000,000.00.
- Bid date not set and work area is wide. The bid opening date is not yet known, and the work may extend into other districts and unspecified areas, which makes planning and pricing harder.
A bid opening date will be established in a future amendment.
