Watch out for
- Bonding required. Performance and payment bonds on a $5-10 million job can be hard for a small business to obtain.
give the required performance and payment bonds within the time specified in the offer
- Heavy marine equipment and environmental controls. The job needs dredges, beach placement, sea turtle protection and monitoring, which require specialized fleet and experience.
sea turtle trawl sweeping (hopper dredges only)
- No offshore pipeline access. Hardbottom areas rule out offshore pipeline, so the sand must be offloaded inside the South Jetty, which limits how you can do the work.
offshore pipeline access to the beach site is prohibited
- Fixed completion dates. The schedule is tied to a beach deadline of 30 May 2027, which leaves little room for weather or delay.
not later than 30 May 2027, with 30 June 2027 for the entire contract work
