The VA (Strategic Acquisition Office East) is doing market research for twice-monthly deep cleaning of the Nutrition and Food Service kitchen at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. This is a sources sought/RFI, not a solicitation. The anticipated term is one year, and responses are due October 16, 2026.
Watch out for
- Strict VA site access and badging. Every worker must clear VA access and background checks, which can slow staffing.
- Fast deficiency correction. Problems found at inspection must be fixed within 24 hours at no extra cost, and repeated failures may lead to contract action.
Contractor corrects deficiencies within 24 hours at no additional cost
- Union-style wage rates and healthcare compliance. SCA wages, ICRA, and OSHA and infection control rules raise cost and paperwork for a small cleaning company.
- Market research only. No award results from this notice; a later solicitation may or may not be set aside for small business.
