The VA's Network Contracting Office 15 is doing market research (Sources Sought, not a solicitation) for maintenance of the TransLogic/Swisslog pneumatic tube system at the Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri. The VA intends to set the work aside for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB). The planned contract is a base year plus four option years, starting 7/28/2027.
Watch out for
- Proprietary system / OEM-trained technicians. The VA says TransLogic (Swisslog) is the sole source for these systems and requires Swisslog-trained, certified technicians, which makes it hard for a general maintenance firm to qualify.
TransLogic, a Swisslog Healthcare company, is the sole source provider of TransLogic Pneumatic Tube Systems.
- Sources sought only, start date is far out. This is not a solicitation and the work is planned to start in July 2027, so a solicitation may or may not follow.
a solicitation announcement may be published on Contract Opportunities (Sam.gov)
- Odd reporting language. The reporting section refers to testing of water systems, which does not match a tube system; expect clarification in any solicitation.
Contractor shall provide reports following maintenance and testing of water systems.
