AI summary Beta
The Army Geospatial Center (part of the Army Corps of Engineers, Alexandria, VA) is running an open Broad Agency Announcement that invites research ideas on many geospatial topics, such as AI, cloud, data standards, simulation and GEOINT. It uses a two-step process: a short white paper first, then a full proposal only if the Army sends a formal request. It is open for 365 days, closing October 13, 2026, with multiple contract awards possible and no set-aside.
Watch out for
- Research-focused, not routine contracting. Proposals must advance the state of the art through scientific study, not sell a specific system or hardware, so this suits R&D-capable firms and universities rather than service or product vendors.
rather than focusing on a specific system or hardware solution
- Two-step process with long waits and no guarantee. White paper responses take up to 75 working days, a full proposal is allowed only if invited, and the Government may fund none of them.
AGC reserves the right to select for award all, some, one, or none of the proposals received in response to this announcement.
- Conflicting closing time. SAM.gov lists a 2:00 PM Eastern response deadline while the BAA says 4:00pm Eastern Standard Time on 13 October 2026, so submit well before the earlier time.
Closing Date – 13 October 2026 by 4:00pm Eastern Standard Time
- Heavy proposal and cost documentation. A full proposal needs five volumes, a quality control plan, detailed cost breakdowns, audit agency information and possibly certified cost data, which is a lot of work for a small team.
Certified cost/pricing data is required for proposals valued at $2M or greater
- Little time left in the open period. The announcement was posted October 14, 2025 and closes October 13, 2026, so only a few days remain to send a white paper.
This announcement is open for 365 days from the original posting date.
