The VA Medical Center in Houston, TX plans a construction contract to remove and replace two operating room chillers in Building 100. It is reserved for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. This is a pre-solicitation notice; the solicitation is expected around October 13, 2026.
Watch out for
- Bonding required. A bid bond is due with the proposal, and performance and payment bonds are required at award, which can be hard for smaller firms to get.
Performance and Payment bonds will be required from the contractor receiving the award.
- Long proposal validity. Your price must hold for 90 days after the proposal is due.
A 90-day proposal acceptance period will be required.
- Work in an active hospital. Replacing chillers serving operating rooms in an occupied medical center likely brings tight scheduling and infection or safety controls, though the notice does not detail them.
