The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA Troop Support / DLA Medical Philadelphia) is doing market research to find companies that make procedure masks in the U.S. that count as 'Domestic End Products'. This is a request for information only, not a solicitation, and no contract is promised. If DLA later buys, it expects a one-year base period plus four one-year option periods.
Watch out for
- Domestic manufacturing required. Only procedure masks that meet the DFARS domestic end product test count, and components of unknown origin are treated as foreign, so a reseller of imported masks likely will not qualify.
Components of unknown origin are treated as foreign.
- Possible stock requirement. The RFI notes awardees may have to hold about six months of stock per awarded part number, which ties up cash for a small business.
each-made offeror will maintain at least six months of stock for each awarded part number
- Fast start expected. DLA asks whether you could begin supplying the estimated quantities within 60 days of award.
within 60 days of the contract award date
- No guarantee of a solicitation. Responding costs you time and may not lead to a bid opportunity.
There is no guarantee that a solicitation will be issued
