The National Park Service is offering a concession business opportunity to run guided water tours, food and beverage, and retail services within Lake Mead National Recreation Area (prospectus CC-LAKE004-27). This amendment extends the deadlines and corrects parts of the draft contract. The projected contract term runs from December 1, 2027 to November 30, 2037.
Watch out for
- Concession, not a standard contract. You would operate a business and pay the government franchise fees, which needs operating capital, insurance and experience running tours and food service.
Section 11(b)(1) (Franchise Fees – Payments Due): Corrected language reflecting payment of a flat percentage fee structure each month.
- Required reserve fund. The draft contract includes a Component Renewal Reserve that ties up part of revenue for upkeep.
Corrected language to reflect the 1.25% Component Renewal Reserve described in the Business Opportunity.
- Notice of intent due before proposal. A separate Notice of Intent to Propose deadline comes two weeks before proposals are due; missing it could matter, so check the prospectus.
Notice of Intent to Propose: Thursday, January 7, 2027, at 12:00 p.m. (Pacific Time)
