AI summary Beta
NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support intends to buy repair or modification of 20 ECS valves (NSN 7R-1660-016686579-P8) and plans to negotiate with only one source. The part requires engineering source approval, and only previously approved sources were solicited. Responses are due October 13, 2026.
Watch out for
Sole-source intent. The government plans to negotiate with only one source, so a new bidder has little chance unless already approved. the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1
Data rights held by approved sources. The approved sources keep the technical data and repair knowledge, so a new company cannot easily learn how to do the work. The approved source(s) retain data rights,manufacturing/repair knowledge, or technical data that are not economically available to the Government
Source approval will not delay award. Approval of a new source takes a long time and award will not wait for it. The time required for approval of a new source is normally such that an award cannot be delayed pending approval of a new source.
