The U.S. Air Force (AFSC, Robins AFB) is doing market research (an RFI, not a solicitation) to find a new manufacturing source for the B-52 AN/APQ-166 Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (NSN 5998-01-228-5360). The Government lacks full technical data, so it wants a company that can build a form, fit, function and interface replacement. Responses are a capability survey emailed by the stated deadline.
Watch out for
- Response deadline conflict. The notice lists a response deadline of 2026-10-14 5:00 PM ET, but the attached RFI asks for responses by 16 Sept 2026; confirm with the contact before relying on either date.
Please send email responses no later than close of business on 16 Sept 2026.
- No complete technical data package. The Government does not own full manufacturing data, so the winner must reverse-engineer or develop a replacement and qualify it, which is costly and risky.
The Government does not own the complete technical data package (TDP) or the unlimited rights to the technical data required for manufacture.
- Security clearance and facility needs. Interested sources need a facility and personnel able to handle Secret information, which many small businesses lack.
Interested sources must maintain facilities and cleared personnel
- Nuclear hardness and ESD controls. Nuclear hardness critical processes and strict ESD controls require specialized quality systems and engineering review.
Hardness Critical Processes (HCP) apply.
- Market research only. No proposals are being requested and no award results from this notice; a future solicitation may or may not be set aside for small business.
Please note, this is a Request for Information only, the Government is not requesting any proposals in response to this posting.

The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources with the expertise, capabilities, experience, and technical repair data necessary to meet qualification requirements to repair the B-52 Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (CCA). The National Stock Number (NSN) and Part Number (PN) are as follows: NSN 5998-01-228-5360, P/N 377-11736-605, Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) This RFI is being conducted to identify different potential non-commercial sources in determining if a future contract effort can be competitively awarded and/or awarded on a total or partial Small Business Set-Aside basis. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this effort is 334511 (Search, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing). The Government does not own the complete technical data package (TDP) or the unlimited rights to the technical data required for manufacture. The OEM of this item is The Boeing Company. To mitigate supply chain risks associated with a single source of supply, avoid obsolescence bottlenecks, and ensure long-term sustainment for the B-52 fleet, the Government's primary objective is to qualify a new, competitive manufacturing source that can deliver a form, fit, function, and interface replacement for this CCA. Please note, this is a Request for Information only, the Government is not requesting any proposals in response to this posting.
