Argonne National Laboratory (Department of Energy) wants to buy a dilution refrigerator for its Q-NEXT quantum research center. Delivery is to Lemont, Illinois. Quotes are due October 12, 2026.
Watch out for
- Buy American domestic content rules. You must state where the item is made, and components of unknown origin count as foreign, so you need a clear breakdown of component sources.
Components of unknown origin are treated as foreign.
- Highly specialized scientific equipment. A dilution refrigerator is a niche instrument, so a small business would likely need to be a manufacturer or an authorized reseller to meet the technical requirements.
- Short response window. The notice was posted October 1 and quotes are due October 12, which leaves little time to prepare technical evidence.
