The Navy's NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support wants 50 intercommunication replacement parts (NSN 7R-5831-015817896-E7), delivered FOB origin. The part is flight critical and only previously approved sources were solicited. Other companies must submit source approval data with their offer.
Watch out for
- Approved sources only. Only sources the Government already approved were solicited, so a new company is unlikely to win unless it can get approved quickly.
Only the source(s) previously approved by the Government for this item have been solicited.
- Award may not wait for approval. Source approval can take a long time, and the Government says it will not normally delay award for a new source.
The time required for approval of a new source is normally such that an award cannot be delayed pending approval of a new source.
- Flight-critical part. Flight-critical parts carry strict engineering and quality requirements that a new supplier must prove it can meet.
the item is flight critical
