Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility plans a stand-alone firm-fixed-price contract to maintain, repair and paint the 82-year-old, 153-foot yard vessel YRBM-50. Work must be done at a contractor facility in the Puget Sound area (Olympia to Bellingham, WA). The availability runs 31 March 2027 to 31 March 2028 and is a total small business set-aside.
Watch out for
- Local shipyard facility required. You need a facility in the Puget Sound area that can handle a 153-foot, 900-ton vessel, which rules out most small businesses.
To facilitate proper government oversight, the facility shall be located in the Puget Sound, WA region.
- Large scope with many trades. Work spans hull, paint, tanks, electrical and communications upgrades, so you need capability or subcontractors across all of it.
- Old vessel. The vessel is 82 years old, so hidden deterioration may add repair work.
