DLA Aviation (Philadelphia) is buying aircraft taxiing lights as new commercial items, apparently for Navy aircraft (the notice mentions the P-8A and 737NG). Only government-approved sources, or their authorized distributors, can win, and every part must come with an FAA Form 8130-3 release certificate.
Watch out for
- Approved sources only. A company that is not an approved source, or an authorized distributor of one, will be rejected, so a new small business likely cannot compete.
offers received from sources which are not government-approved sources of supply will be deemed technically unacceptable, and therefore ineligible for award.
- FAA release certificate and traceability required. You need the paperwork chain back to the original manufacturer or production approval holder, which resellers may not be able to get.
All components delivered under this contract shall be accompanied by a properly executed FAA Form 8130-3 Authorized Release Certificate.
- No drawings available. You must bid from the part description alone, which raises the risk of offering a part that does not fit.
Drawings are not available for this Request For Quote.
- Emergency acquisition authority. The solicitation uses emergency flexibilities, which can change normal timelines and procedures.
This Solicitation is being issued under EAF Authority formally known as SEPA.
