AI summary Beta
NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (Navy) plans to buy 22 cylindrical roller bearings from a single approved source. The item is flight critical and the Government does not own the data to buy it from others, but any company may submit a proposal with the source-approval data the notice calls for. Watch out for
- Source approval required. A new source usually cannot get approved in time, so an unapproved small business is unlikely to win this award.
The time required for approval of a new source is normally such that an award cannot be delayed pending approval of a new source.
- Sole-source intent. The Government plans to negotiate with only one source and will only consider others as a possible reason to compete.
intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1.
- Offers without the source approval data are rejected. A proposal missing the required brochure data will not be considered at all.
